Kuro's rulebook, in plain words. Every action we take points to one of these lines.
Who Kuro is for
- For people 18 and over. One account per person.
- Real people only. No bots, no paid hosts, no staff pretending to be users.
- Your face, name and number stay hidden. You choose what to share, and when.
The three promises
Heat rises only when both say yes. Either of you can lower it at any time.
No means no. Silence means no.
Never ask for photos, real names or numbers.
Everyone makes these promises before their first conversation.
Not allowed
- Anyone under 18, or any sexual talk involving a minor. This ends in a ban and is reported as the law requires.
- Threats, blackmail or pressure to send photos.
- Asking for money, gifts, UPI or bank details, or any scam.
- Sharing someone else's details or messages outside Kuro.
- Hate, harassment, or carrying on after someone said no.
- Pretending to be someone else.
- In a room's name, which everyone sees: contact details, other apps or money, anything warmer than the room's mood, or anything about school years, teens or being under 18.
The full list, including what India's IT Rules forbid, is in our terms.
What happens when rules are broken
- Every action comes with a reason that points to this page.
- Smaller things get a private warning first. Minors, blackmail and scams lead to a ban straight away.
- A person looks at reports about sexual content or possible minors within 2 hours, and the rest within 24 hours.
- If something you write suggests you may be under 18, your chats pause until you confirm your age again.
- A ban stays with the email it was made with, so signing up again does not undo it.
- If someone is banned for scams, blackmail or contact with a minor, the people who talked with them recently get a private notice.
Your privacy
- We keep your pen name, your ink portrait, a single yes for your age and a scrambled version of your email. Never a profile photo, a face scan, your ID or the email itself.
- Your gender and who you'd like to talk to are used only to match people both ways, and your approximate location only if you choose a distance. No one ever sees them.
- Chats, and the sealed photos in them, are deleted when a season ends without both choosing to keep talking.
- A report keeps only the messages you pick as evidence.
- No ads and no third-party trackers.
The details are in our privacy policy.
Staying safe
Report and block
In a chat, room or Hello, tap ⋯ or Report. Pick a reason and, if you like, the messages to keep as evidence. Blocking is on by default when you report. A block ends the chat for both of you without saying why, and you will not be matched again.
Gentle warnings
- Before you send something above the level you both agreed, Kuro asks first.
- When you receive something like that, Kuro asks: "Does this bother you?", with Report one tap away.
- Before you share a way to reach you outside the app, Kuro reminds you that it can't be unsent.
- When someone pushes you to other apps, video calls or money, Kuro warns you: that is how most scams start.
Voice notes that protect you
- Voice notes are veiled, and the original is deleted within seconds.
- Above Friendly, a voice note can be played once. Kuro has no forward or save button for voice notes.
- Screenshots and screen recording are blocked everywhere in the app, so a play-once note stays play-once.
Sealed photos, only when you both want them
- No profile photos, ever. A photo can be sent only once your chat has reached Kindred, the closest stage of trust, and you have both switched photos on. If only one of you switches on, the other is never told.
- Photos come only from Kuro's camera, never from the gallery.
- A photo with explicit nudity or sexual activity is never delivered.
- The person you send it to sees it once, for a short time, with their own pen name written across it, and can't take a screenshot of it.
- Asking for photos, or pressing someone to switch them on, breaks the three promises.
Private check-ins
After a chat, Kuro may ask: "Did you feel respected? Were your limits kept?" The other person never sees your answer. If several people answer no about the same person, our team takes a look.
If you are in danger
You are not alone.
If someone is blackmailing you: don't pay and don't send anything more. Keep the messages, report and block them in Kuro (the "I'm being blackmailed" button walks you through it), and contact the police.
- In an emergency, call 112.
- For blackmail or online fraud, call the National Cyber Crime helpline 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in.
Appeals
- If you are banned, you can appeal from the sign-in screen. A person reviews every appeal within 7 days.
- If you disagree with a warning or anything else, see complaints and appeals.
