Report something

Reports about sexual content or possible minors are looked at within 2 hours, everything else within 24 hours.
Complaints and appeals
- Banned? Open the app, enter your email, and tap "Appeal" on the sign-in screen. A person reviews every appeal within 7 days.
- Warned or reported, and you disagree? Write to our grievance officer (below).
- A person, not a machine, decides every appeal.
Grievance officer
As India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 require, Kuro has an India-based grievance officer:
Naman Singh Chandelgrievance@theivies.in
Plot 1252, Sector 52, Gurgaon, Haryana 122011, India
Formal complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and answered within 15 days. This includes complaints about your personal data under the DPDP Act; if we can't settle one, you can take it to the Data Protection Board of India.
Child safety
To report a concern about a child, or to ask about our child safety standards, write to safety@theivies.in.
Delete your account
In the app: Me, then Delete my account. Without the app: see how to delete your account by email, and what is deleted and kept.
If you are in danger
- In an emergency, call 112.
- For blackmail or online fraud, call the National Cyber Crime helpline 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in.
Questions
When can I get Kuro?
Kuro is coming soon to Google Play, in India first.
Is Kuro free?
Yes. Kuro is free to use, and Hellos, walking into a room and every safety tool stay free. For sale on Google Play: more Sparks, more rooms to start (the first 3 are free, then ₹50 each), Kuro Plus, and an optional Founding member pass for a limited number of early members.
What are Sparks?
A Spark sends your Hello to the top of someone's Hellos. Every account starts with 2 Sparks, and they don't refill. You can buy more on Google Play: 1 for ₹25, or 5 for ₹120. Sparks you buy never expire.
What is Kuro Plus?
A subscription on Google Play: ₹49 a week with 1 Spark each week, or ₹149 a month with 3 Sparks each month. It also gives 2-minute voice notes, hibernation, the gold Kuro Plus mark, chat papers and Your month in ink. It renews until you cancel it.
How do I cancel Kuro Plus?
In Google Play: Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, then Kuro. Or tap Manage in Google Play on Kuro Plus in the app. Plus runs to the end of the time you paid for. Deleting your Kuro account also cancels it, so it is never charged again.
Can people see when I am online?
They see "Online" or "Away" on Discover, in New Hellos and in a chat. Switch off "Show when I'm online" in Me to hide yours (you then don't see anyone else's either), or hibernate with Kuro Plus to hide yours while still seeing theirs.
Can someone screenshot our chat?
Kuro blocks screenshots and screen recording everywhere in the app. It cannot stop someone photographing their screen with another phone, so share only what you are comfortable with.
Can I share photos?
There are no profile photos, ever. Inside a chat, sealed photos open only once the chat has grown close (Kindred, five flames), and only when you both switch them on. Nobody should ever ask you for a photo.
Can people see my email or number?
No. Kuro never asks for your number, and we keep only a scrambled version of your email, never the address.
Can people see my gender or where I am?
No. Your gender and who you'd like to talk to are used only to match people both ways. Location is used only if you choose a distance: your phone shares its approximate location, our server rounds it to about a kilometre, and no one ever sees where you are or how far away you are.
Is everyone on Kuro real?
Yes. No bots, no paid hosts, and our staff never pretend to be users.
What happens to my chats?
Each chat runs in seasons of three days. If you both choose to keep talking, a new season starts; if not, the chat ends and what was said is deleted.
